In order to protect himself, this Loki variant changes his backstory every time he is asked about it, shrouding himself in lies and mystery. Although, the real reason behind his nexus event, is that not only did he commit patricide and kill his own father Laufey, he kept his back turned on his adoptive family, and murdered the Allfather, Odin, during his Odinsleep, which also caused an earlier arrival of the Goddess of Death, Hela.

After years and years of learning magic from his adoptive mother Frigga, Loki became rapacious and secretly sought after more powerful magic on his own. As he was consumed with his jealousy and resentment of standing in his brother Thor’s shadow, Loki worked on mastering his power in the mystic arts in hopes that he could one day prove himself worthy of the throne.

When his true lineage was revealed, the darkness that lay dormant inside of him after years of practicing dark magic was triggered, which led him to the harrowing decision of killing both of his fathers, and the attempt at destroying his home planet of Jotunheim.

Even with all of his magic, Loki was unable to kill his brother and stop him from destroying the Rainbow Bridge. The blast knocked both brothers away, but instead of Odin, it was their mother Frigga that came down to save her sons from each other. This is also when their older sister Hela found them, having crossed over in the Royal Palace shortly after Frigga had left. Once the two brothers weren’t hanging over an abyss created by the Bifrost, Hela attacked. Nearly killing their mother, the two brothers tried teaming up against their older sister, but were still no match for the Goddess of Death. She dominated the fight and was able to throw Loki off of what was left of the bridge, down towards the abyss. Thor tried to get their mother as far away as possible after being knocked away, only to turn right back around when Hela began taunting him.

Enter a team of TVA agents to clean up the mess the whole lot of them created, all because of Loki making the wrong decision. What none of them knew was that with the power that was unleashed inside of him, Loki had gained the ability to fly, which saved him from falling directly into the wormhole.

A few moments after realizing what was going on with this newly formed ability of his, a Timedoor opened in front of him, and two hands roughly yanked him inside. On the other side of the Timedoor stood, well, himself. An identical, but older Loki variant with a stolen ship and TemPad managed to coordinate where his younger self would fall.

His plan was to use the younger Loki in order to try and fake his own death, but like all of their plans, it backfired terribly. He grew attached to his younger self in the weeks they ran from the TVA, and couldn’t bring himself to kill him. Murdering and pruning TVA agents together, they fought as a team, but ultimately the darkness that was nestled inside of Loki grew, and he ended up pruning the older Loki after a heated argument.

Taking the stolen TemPad, Loki quickly used it to disappear through another Timedoor, seemingly replacing the Loki that he thought he killed.
